Nobody does Viper Speciality tuning better than DC Performance: Why we are THE BEST!
DC Performance is the place to get your Viper or JTEC (Jeep Truck Engine Controller) equipped Dodge vehicle tuned. Simply put, we can tune your factory JTEC engine controller better than anyone else. We have been tuning JTEC engine controllers for over six years, before “commercial” tuning software became available. With the recent release of readily available calibration software to the general public, there have been many shops that believe or claim to have full control of all necessary calibration areas to properly tune your JTEC controlled engine. The truth is, the software they use is missing many calibration areas that are critical to proper calibration for the correct operation of control routines that effect drivability, especially with highly modified engines. Certainly the main fuel and spark surfaces and functions are accessible, but many of the calibrations areas that handle closed loop fuel, spark, and A.I.S. control and simply not defined. We not only know where to tune these areas, but understand how the various control routines work, and have put in a considerable investment of time and energy into figuring this out.
Another critical area in relation to effective engine tuning is data logging. While most GM and Ford performance vehicles have multiple options for high data rate logging, logging devices that are available for JTEC engine controllers used with the Viper and other Chrysler vehicles are not suited for tuning, generally have very slow (unusable) refresh rates , and don’t have the functionality that is useful for doing tuning work . With the importance of proper logging tools in mind, we came up with our own high speed logging tool. Recently, we have been working on a version that could be used by end users, so that long distance tuning can be done more effectively. This will also fill a void that has been there ever since the release of the SCT Advantage tuning package, as SCT never followed through with logging software for use with their 9550 DCX handheld programmers.
Some of the things we can provide for you:
1. Tuning for aggressive, high overlap camshafts, we can make your car run and idle with big cams, without the idle hang and radical surging that cannot be tuned out with other software.
2. Boosted applications , we can tune your car for boost with the factory ECU, this has many benefits over a standalone EFI system :
a) Emission systems are retained when using the factory JTEC ECU, this means that your OBD2 monitors will still run and pass in most situations.
b) Factory ECU reliability, the factory ECU in your car has to meet strict reliability and durability standards that are generally not even close to being meet by aftermarket stand alone ECUs. What this means to you, is that you can be confidant that you won’t be left stranded, or experience random drivability issues because your ECU decides to overheat or otherwise fail due to poor engineering or components that are not rated or designed for use in with the temperatures and RFI that the factory JTEC is rated for.
c) Drivability, simply stated, nothing starts and runs your Dodge vehicle like the factory ECU. The level of engineering that is involved with starting, idling and other areas that make the engine behave nicely goes far beyond what aftermarket ECUs have to offer. OEM’s, such as Chrysler, have to walk a very fine line between emission standards, reliability, and vehicle performance. To achieve those goals, they have spent years and unmentionable amounts of money designing, and engineering the hardware and code or operating system that makes the ECU work as well as it does. When a car cannot be made to run well on the factory ECU, often times the tuner will say it’s the limitation of the ECU itself, when in fact it is usually a lack of understanding on the tuners part of how certain control routines work within the ECU, or for the simple fact that the necessary calibration tables, functions and scalars are not available in whatever calibration software the tuner may be using. We know how to tune what is necessary to make your car run right.
3. It should be noted that the factory ECU is not always the best option for your car, Dan or Chris at DC Performance would be happy to discuss what is suitable for your application, and we have experience with tuning and installing all the available aftermarket ECUs that work with the Viper V10 engine, including Pectel , MoTeC, and AEM .
